Let's take a step back and peek into the rearview mirror of my tech journey. It's not exactly an action-packed adventure, but it's certainly a story of curiosity, persistence, and the magic of Microsoft.
The Early Spark
My fascination with technology started early, back in high school. While my classmates daydreamed of far-off vacations and fancy cars, I found myself captivated by the mysteries of computer science. The way you could tap a few keys on a keyboard and make words appear on a screen was nothing short of enchanting.
And then there were video games. Even though I couldn't always afford the latest games or consoles, I was mesmerized by the logic behind characters moving with the push of a button. These seemingly small wonders steered me toward my future in computer science.
University Days and Microsoft's Entry
In 2016, I took the plunge and applied for a diploma in computer science at the University of Jos Information and Technology Institute. It was here that I first encountered Microsoft and its suite of office tools. Among them, Excel stole my heart. It transformed the complexities of calculations into a puzzle I loved to solve. Before I knew it, I was sharing my Excel wizardry with peers and juniors, spreading the joy of Microsoft.
My journey continued as I gained admission to the University of Jos, diving deeper into computer science. That's when I stumbled upon the Microsoft community. Attending their meetings was an enlightening experience, but the turning point came when a fellow enthusiast, Paul Umaru Gold MLSA, recognized my passion for learning and teaching.
The MLSA Application Challenge
My MLSA journey didn't start with a bang; it was more of a bumpy ride. My first application revealed an unexpected challenge - I was camera-shy! Microsoft's video requirements left me stuttering through the entire process. I knew I could do better, so I heeded Paul's advice: I reapplied, not once, not twice, but five times.
Persistence, as they say, pays off. On a fateful day in July 2023, after an all-nighter working on a Django project, I groggily checked my email. There it was, the acceptance email I had been eagerly awaiting. Joy surged through me, and I couldn't contain my excitement. I called Paul, and even though he was in a meeting, I heard his ecstatic shout of "Yes!" echoing through the phone. It was truly a dream come true.
The Road Ahead
Now, as a proud MLSA, I am more determined than ever to contribute my best to the thriving Microsoft community. I'm committed to seizing every opportunity Microsoft offers to enhance my skills and broaden my horizons. My current mission? To level up from "New" to "Alpha" in this exciting journey.
So, dear readers, my blog "Tech Journey" is your window into my world as I explore Microsoft and beyond. Join me in sharing experiences, knowledge, and the occasional tech hiccup as we navigate this ever-evolving digital landscape, one keystroke at a time.
